Men at work! The ground is prepared for the new Tottenham Court Road Crossrail Station ticket hall.

If you are a local business or travel regularly through area, these works could well affect you. Hopefully, by keeping you informed we can help you live with them.

Crossrail recently awarded McGee Group Ltd a contract to undertake enabling works for the western ticket hall of the Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station. These involve clearing the site to prepare for the main construction which commences in 2011.

Work started in April 2010 and is scheduled to last for eight months. Previously acquired buildings on a site bounded by Dean Street, Great Chapel Street, Oxford Street and Diadem Court will be demolished and this will involve the delivery of machinery and materials to site, the erection of scaffolding, and the construction of a tower crane on Great Chapel Street.

During demolition McGee will be doing everything possible to minimise disruption to the local community. This includes measures to limit and monitor dust levels and, as much as is practically possible, the reduction of noise.

McGee are required to keep within limits set by Westminster City Council. All vehicles working on the site will also have to use a traffic route agreed with the Council and designed to minimise congestion and other disruption.

McGee apologise for any inconvenience caused by the works and, if you have any queries or concerns, you can contact their 24-hour public helpdesk by calling 0345 602 3813 or emailing helpdesk@crossrail.co.uk
