Arts and Culture

The cultural contribution

inholborn is primarily a business-led organisation, but we recognise the importance of arts and culture, not simply for enhancing the quality of life but for contributing to the district’s commercial success. An area with a rich cultural life is not simply a pleasant place to live and work, it’s also far more likely to attract inward investment and visitors. One need only look at the regenerative effect of cultural projects in other parts of the UK.

Of course, we are already blessed with a rich cultural heritage and we are already building on it. One example is the Museum Mile, a guided walk which takes in 13 of London’s most fascinating collections, centred on Holborn.

We are looking forward too and keen to see individual and distinctive architecture and public art that helps to create a sense of place and raise awareness of our cultural surroundings.

We have already begun, commissioning an exciting landmark sculpture for Gate Street and, as a key inner-city destination, we will be very much involved in the discussions surrounding the cultural element of the 2012 Olympics and the legacy it will leave behind.
